What it is
Audacity is an open-source audio editor and recorder. You record from a microphone or open existing audio files, then cut, copy, mix and arrange them on multiple tracks. Built-in effects handle noise reduction, normalizing, compression and equalization, and it exports to formats such as WAV, MP3, FLAC and Ogg.
Why it’s here
- Clean up recordings. Remove background noise, trim mistakes and even out levels in a voice recording.
- Podcasts and voiceovers. Multitrack editing is enough for interviews and narration.
On CoreDesktop
CoreDesktop installs Audacity as a Flatpak from Flathub. Open it from the app grid. update keeps it current along with your other Flatpaks.
