What it is

BlueZ is the official Bluetooth stack for Linux. Its service talks to your Bluetooth adapter and handles pairing and connections, and GNOME’s Bluetooth settings are built on it. bluez-utils adds bluetoothctl, a command-line tool for scanning, pairing and connecting devices.

Why it’s here

  • Wireless devices work. Headphones, speakers, mice, keyboards and game controllers.
  • Managed from Settings. Pairing happens in GNOME, no terminal needed.
  • A fallback in the terminal. bluetoothctl helps when a device won’t behave.

On CoreDesktop

CoreDesktop installs BlueZ and bluez-utils from pacman and enables bluetooth.service. Pair devices in Settings › Bluetooth. update keeps both current.
