What it is

GIMP is an open-source raster image editor. It handles photo retouching, color correction, cropping and resizing, compositing with layers and masks, and painting. It opens most image formats, including Photoshop’s PSD files, and can be extended with plugins and scripts.

Why it’s here

  • Photo editing without a subscription. Layers, masks, selections and filters cover most of what people use Photoshop for.
  • Everyday image jobs. Cropping a screenshot, resizing for the web or blurring a detail takes a minute.

On CoreDesktop

CoreDesktop installs GIMP from pacman. Open it from the app grid or run gimp. update keeps it current with the rest of the pacman packages.
