What it is
Google Chrome is the most widely used web browser. It’s built on the open-source Chromium project, with Google’s additions on top: sign-in and sync with your Google account, automatic updates, Google’s translation and password features, and licensed media codecs.
Why it’s here
- The reference browser. Most web apps are built and tested in Chrome first, so it’s the safe choice when something only works there.
- Google account sync. If your bookmarks, passwords and extensions live in a Google account, Chrome picks them up when you sign in.
- Web developer tools. Chrome DevTools is the standard many web tutorials assume.
On CoreDesktop
CoreDesktop installs Chrome as a Flatpak from Flathub. Open it from the app grid. Helium is CoreDesktop’s default browser; to make Chrome the default instead, pick it in Settings › Apps › Default Apps.
The sandboxed AI agents can’t read your Chrome profile. update keeps Chrome current along with your other Flatpaks.
