What it is
Helvum is a graphical patchbay for PipeWire, the system that handles sound and video on modern Linux desktops. It shows every app, microphone, speaker and camera as a box with ports, and the connections between them as lines. You drag between ports to connect them, for example to send one app’s audio into a recording app, or to route a microphone to two places at once.
Why it’s here
- See your audio. When sound goes to the wrong place, the graph shows why.
- Custom routing. Connect apps and devices in ways the Sound settings can’t.
On CoreDesktop
CoreDesktop installs Helvum as a Flatpak from Flathub. Open it from the app grid. update keeps it current along with your other Flatpaks.
