What it is

just saves the commands a project uses, such as building, testing or deploying, in a justfile, as named recipes. just test runs the test recipe; just on its own runs the first one, and just --list shows them all. It’s like make for running commands, without make’s quirks around files and tabs.

Why it’s here

  • Commands you don’t have to remember. Each project documents its own tasks.
  • Simple syntax. Recipes can take arguments and depend on each other.

On CoreDesktop

just is installed from pacman. update keeps it current with the rest of the pacman packages.
