What it is
LibreOffice is an open-source office suite from The Document Foundation. It includes Writer for documents, Calc for spreadsheets, Impress for presentations, Draw for diagrams, Base for databases and Math for formulas. It opens and saves Microsoft Office files (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx), and its native format is the OpenDocument standard.
Why it’s here
- Office without a subscription. It covers what most people use Word, Excel and PowerPoint for.
- Opens what people send you. Microsoft Office files open and save in their own formats.
- Exports to PDF. Any document exports to PDF in one step.
On CoreDesktop
CoreDesktop installs LibreOffice from pacman as libreoffice-fresh, the branch with the newest features. If an older install had the LibreOffice Flatpak, update removes it in favor of this package.
Open the apps from the app grid, or run libreoffice. update keeps it current with the rest of the pacman packages.
