What it is

LocalSend shares files and text between devices on the same network, without the internet or an account. Open it on both devices, they find each other, and you pick the files to send. It runs on Linux, Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, and transfers are encrypted.

Why it’s here

  • AirDrop for every platform. Move photos from a phone or documents to a laptop in a few taps.
  • Stays local. Files go straight between devices, not through a cloud service.
  • No account. Install it and it works.

On CoreDesktop

LocalSend is installed from Flathub. Open it from the app grid. CoreDesktop’s firewall allows LocalSend’s port, 53317, so other devices can find this one and send to it. update keeps LocalSend current with the rest of the Flatpaks.
