What it is

OBS Studio is open-source software for screen recording and live streaming. You build scenes from sources such as your screen, a window, a webcam, images and text, mix audio from your microphone and desktop, and switch between scenes as you go. It records to a file or streams to services such as YouTube and Twitch.

Why it’s here

  • Screen recordings and demos. Tutorials, bug reports and walkthroughs, with your camera in the corner if you want.
  • Live streaming. It’s the standard tool for streaming to the major platforms.

On CoreDesktop

CoreDesktop installs OBS Studio as a Flatpak from Flathub. Open it from the app grid; on GNOME, add a Screen Capture (PipeWire) source to record your screen. update keeps it current along with your other Flatpaks.
