What it is
Revolt is an open-source chat platform laid out like Discord: communities are servers with text and voice channels, roles and permissions, plus direct messages and friends lists. The project has since renamed itself Stoat. The desktop app here still installs under the Revolt name.
Why it’s here
- Discord’s layout, in open source. Communities that want the server-and-channel model without a closed platform can use it.
- Familiar from day one. Anyone who has used Discord knows their way around.
On CoreDesktop
CoreDesktop installs Revolt as a Flatpak from Flathub. Open it from the app grid and sign in. update keeps it current along with your other Flatpaks.
