What it is

tree lists the contents of a directory recursively, drawing the structure with lines so you can see at a glance what’s inside and how it’s nested.

tree -L 2 ~/Projects

Why it’s here

  • See structure quickly. Useful for exploring a new project or explaining one.
  • Easy to share. Its output pastes cleanly into documentation and chat.

On CoreDesktop

tree is installed from pacman. Type tree in a terminal. For a tree with icons and Git status, CoreDesktop’s lt alias uses eza instead. update keeps tree current with the pacman packages.
