What it is

Whisp is a small note-taking app for GNOME, meant as a desktop scratchpad. There are no titles, files or folders: you open it and type. Notes sit side by side on a canvas you swipe through with the touchpad, Markdown renders as you write, and Ctrl+D deletes a note when you’re done with it. Pasting an image with text in it runs OCR offline and inserts the text.

Why it’s here

  • Faster than a notes app. Phone numbers, links and half-formed ideas go somewhere without deciding where.
  • Fits GNOME. It’s built with GTK4 and libadwaita, so it looks and behaves like the rest of the desktop.

On CoreDesktop

CoreDesktop installs Whisp as a Flatpak from Flathub. Open it from the app grid. update keeps it current along with your other Flatpaks.
